Tiebreaker...Heartbreaker...

Last night I stayed up to watch the San Diego Padres play the Colorado Rockies in a one game tiebreaker for the 2007 National League Wildcard spot. It was quite a game with the Padres starting off with a 3-0 deficit. Next comes a Grand Slam by the Padres to bring the score to SD 5 Col 4 at the end of the 3rd inning. By the end of the 7th Colorado had regained the lead 6-5, but once again the Padres comeback with another score to tie the game in the 8th and through the 9th. Now the tiebreaker game is into a tiebreaker (extra innings). Many pitchers later the Padres come up with a 2 run homer that puts them ahead in the top of 13th. They now turn to the all time saves leader, Trevor Hoffman, to close out the game in the bottom of the 13th and here is where the heartbeaker begins. For all of his accomplishments it was sad to watch him and the Padres lose this game.

In other sports, namely football, the weekend was also a dearth of "upsets". Our football pool results for the week are dismal even though Chrissie had the highest point total. This now leaves me in 5th and Chrissie in 7th for the first 4 weeks. As they say, focus on the next game not the last game.

This last sunday I was called to be the Ass't Deacons Quorum Advisor with emphasis on "Duty to God".

Tonight is the kickoff for the Wreath Sales Fundraiser for Gib's scout troop. Chrissie and I agreed to be the chairpersons for this event. Lets hope the boys do well cause we have ordered 750 Wreaths.
