Family Home Day

Today the youngin's skipped school to play with their grandparents. They chose to go bowling and play games for family home evening and go out for Italian Ice Cream afterwards. We had a GREAT day!!! FHE consisted of Gib sharing his first church talk and then grandma and grandpa were our family history panelists for a Q&A of their childhoods, family memories, and how they met and got married. It was really fun! Then Mike and Grandpa gave blessings to the kids which was really special. Grandma said she felt emotional when she saw Gib passing the sacrament at church. I thought it was really touching also to see and hear a Father's & Grandfather's blessing for each child. We played Apples to Apples tonight, and Phase 10 last night. Lots of good times! We will be sad to say good-bye tomorrow to Grandma & Grandpa.

Here we are at bowling Mike won!
Was there ever any doubt?
This is Mike saying
"don't mess with me when I'm bowling"
Here's Grandma's first time bowling in YEARS?
I tried to find out exactly how long it had been
Judging by the way she encouraged the ball to do better
my guess is it's been a while
Gib started off in his glasses but later took them off
claiming the white fuzzy things at the end of the lane
were perfectly clear and the glasses were making him
bowl badly...yeah, whatever
Caveman Style
I especially enjoyed Grandpa's style
AKA The Controlled Fall
After my first bowl, Mom asked me
"Doesn't that hurt your shoulder?"
and I suddenly realized she was right! It did!
So I went in low from then on

Mariah's style hurts me to watch
She kind of holds the ball above her waist and then
throws it, where it bounces and starts slowly rolling.....
But hey, she beat Grandma by a point!!!

THE WALK OF FAME:

THE WALK OF SHAME

How Many Pins are Left?
A Walk of Shame Regular ~ And he's still smiling!
Family Home Evening
Apples To Apples
WINNER: With 7 Green Cards!
TARYN!
She was ON FIRE tonight!
Most Honorable Mention
(for Outing the Most Unhonorable Player)
GRANDMA!
She had a blank card which she used for "Outrageous" She said it was for Chrissie who kept drawing until she got a card she liked...she didn't want to actually say CHEATER but we all knew that's what she meant! Mike, who couldn't agree more, awarded mom with the Green Card for that one!
Funniest Player Award:
CHRISSIE!
I don't know, maybe it's just me,
but I thoroughly enjoy me during Apples to Apples!
Almost Pulled an Upset:
MIKE
He missed it by one. Two wins in one day though...
that just wouldn't be fair!
Then again, this is the man who fought to win
Musical Chairs against a 7 yr old at a family reunion!
Best Audience Award:
GIB, GRANDPA, MARIAH, TARYN & INDY
They laughed at ALL my jokes!!!

Our Drivers Edge Saturday

So, here's how it all began. In a long line. For a long time. Don't ask me how Mike got such a weird picture of me. I have no idea what I'm doing unless it's a pinch between my cheek & gum! Then Gib smelled FOOD!
Somehow, Grandma & Grandpa made friends in 10 minutes
and got offered free lunch.

We were surprised to see friends! They found us and
saved us seats in front of them
that's them on the aisle: Wolfe, Ebeth, and Preston

Now onto the Drunk Driving Portion of the program:
Everyone put on goggles that simulated drunk vision

Gib & Mariah had on the less-drunk goggles
which is only right since they are seriously
under-aged!

First day with your new feet?

Indy & Taryn got the double-drunk goggles
We learned an intoxicated person cannot do 3 things at once
1. Find the line (the goggles made 3 lines appear!)
2. Keep your arms down to your side
3. Count your steps as you go heel to toe

Some kids were a tad too practiced at the line
Mariah, I was glad to see, wasn't one of them

Gib enjoyed Mariah's runway debut

Taryn missed the runway completely
People tell her she'd be a funny drunk
but unless it involves wearing goggles
instead of drinking, it ain't happening
Well, the heel's right on
But look at the arms
Look at the line!
Look at the girl going to jail!
"Honestly Mom! I only tried the goggles once!"

Grandpa tells Taryn to ponder and pray
upon the Word of Wisdom

I's Slide

So, after Taryn's turn, Indy was resigned to her fate.
I love Taryn's face watching her sister here.

Here goes Indy on her first attempt
Dum...dum...dum....
Well, was that so bad?
Let's check The Many Faces of Indy
to answer that question!

(has anyone noticed the humongous head
of the guy in the back?)
This is my favorite "I'm not liking this!" face

As usual, Indy's face was very expressive but I think she will agree....
waterskiing was alot less stressful to learn!

T's Slide

Having no end of problems with Blogger today...but here are some photos that hopefully are worth the wait....
The Professional Drivers make it look so easy
It's as simple as 1....
2......

3!

Yeah, it looks easy, doesn't it?!

Taryn gets to go first

You've seen the video, so you know what happened

2nd try....

Same result!

That can't be good!

3rd Time's the Charm?

Hey look there's the green cone over there!

And it's still over there

And we're over here!

4th Try
(this is NOT as easy as you think people!)

I see the cone!

5th Try - Success!!!
