Bragg's Visit

Thursday, Kay, Colton, Mariah and I went to the Natchez Trace Parkway. We drove the scenic bypass and Colton took alot of photos. We started on the gorgeous bridge for which the Natchez Trace Parkway is famous for. I didn't bring our camera, a mistake for which Mariah has since made up for because she wants to also tote around a cool camera taking all the cool shots. To be fair, she has always liked photography, but in the past two days, her up close and personal shots, especially those taken inside stores, have increased dramatically! So, while on the Trace, Mariah was forced to use her phone as a camera, and when it ran out of battery she used mine. Since I haven't seen Colton's photos, or Mariah's cell phone pics, I have only my orphaned iphone pics to work with here.

We found a hiking trail. Since it was only like 95 and 90% humidity, why not hike?! Kay was all like, "heat doesn't bother me at all!! Are you sweating Chrissie?!" No, actually I was having a steam bath in my clothing and enjoying it very much thank you.

Most of the hike was under trees, which made the heat index go down 10 whoopin' degrees. That hole looked mighty cool and possibly air conditioned as I walked by it.

Kay and Mariah took a short cut over a log. The log had a little uphill slant at the end. And some super slipperiness at the end. They fell off. Kay kinda just stumbled off. Mariah did a full body roll. She was pretty sure into poison ivy by the red bumps that immediately appeared on her elbows. But we didn't see any there and besides that I don't think poison ivy would appear instantaneously on one's arm. I only got a photo of Kay crossing the bridge, and she saw it somewhere last night, but I don't think this had uploaded yet, and sent me an email from across the house blessing my heart for taking a less than ladylike photo of her posterior. So I have since removed it from this blog. Oh Sugarfoot! It was a good 'un too. But she so aptly used the "bless your heart" phrase that I felt immediate shame and couldn't tell if she thought I was sweet to tell her it looked good or if I was tetched in the haid.

Besides being hot and humid it was very green

While walking, you didn't really have to look up to know when there was heat streaming thru, some might call it sunshine, but let's be real here folks.
It shined on the poison ivy below. Note: this is not the slippery log, it's another one. With an excellent example of poison ivy all around it. Kay and Colton now know what it looks like, on the ground that is. The vines on the trees haven't leafed out much yet.

Later that night there was a game of Spoons. The bowling idea didn't work out, too many people in town had the same plan and the lane wait was hours long. So Spoons it was!

I took those before I succumbed to a headache. I missed out on all the fun! I thought I caught a budding migraine in time that it would be cured with a short nap and meds. I passed out to the sounds of a fun game in progress and Mike razzing Kay. Next thing I knew it was 3 am and I was pretty sure the game was over.

On Friday, we are going to downtown Nashville. Gonna see the sights on foot. There is a map you can print out with lots of places to take note of in a 20 block area, and it says 3-8 hours depending on your stamina. Actually, those aren't the exact words, but c'mon! We're hoping the trolley is still running, but I am not sure what is there after last May's floods and what closed or gone for good. We will find out. We plan to go to the Wildhorse Saloon and we'll see who we can coax onto the dance floor for the free line dancing lessons. Yeeehaw!! Maybe we can even swing on by Tootsie's Orchid Lounge or the Bluebird Cafe and catch a few singer/songwriters performing. It's time to do the Music City tour, so I gotta go!

Heat...smeat! It was just a little warm. The hike was great!

As Mike so aptly put it...the braggs went down in a burning ring of fire! But we took out a coombs first, sorry Mariah!
