It's Prom Night, the day we've been planning for since January. We went dress shopping in Jan/Feb, hairdo appt made in Feb & still too late to get the best time, spent all of March/April tanning, got the nails done last night and Indy & I went to the mall for last minute dohickeys and makeup. There's a group of them that planned to go to a restaurant together. All that said to set up the fact that this one boy only had to rent a tux and make restaurant reservations. Yep, you guessed it. He waited until Thursday and by then everyplace they wanted to go was booked. Argh!!! Deep breathing.....
So, I find out last night, our house is now the restaurant, the Butcher Block down the street which has the most fantastic steaks outside of a steakhouse I've ever had is the grocer (and I'm a-hopin they have enough steaks on hand), and I guess Mike and I are the chefs. I would have organized it differently, but Indy took control and didn't ask, so I'm letting her run with it. So I'm trying to just keep my mouth shut, not to develop a facial tic, and see how it plays out. My eyes just kept getting bigger as I hear her leave messages for everyone asking for their orders! Now I can see planning on 2 different veggies, sides, salads, etc., but just saying basically phone it in?! I can handle steak, chicken, and salmon on the grill, it's the rest that has me concerned. I could use some family in town! My mom is gone all day on a church retreat, so no help there either. Oh well, if the menu isn't too outrageous, I can handle dinner for 15. I know weekends aren't usually blog time for alot of you, but I'm hoping somebody takes a look and can send me a word of advice! I think most of you have had a Prom dinner at your home before, right? I NEED your long distance help! Tell me what you did, what worked, didn't work, suggestions, whatever you know that I need to know!!! Quick!

I guess I'm the first to read this. Never went to prom, but I'll do my best to pass the word.
That's funny, I walk in from running at 9:20 am and Kristin is on the phone saying "call Chrissie," Of course, I think something is terribly wrong. But I called and..... hope my prom ideas were some help!
I never went to prom either, so this was a real first for me!
Everything turned out GREAT! Thanks Kay for the suggestions. I'm going to file them away for the next time!
We only had the morning to shop for food. We went to the butcher block down the street. They have delicious meats. So we ended up setting the menu pretty much before the "orders" came in, but luckily, we guessed right. I called Indy before getting produce to make sure we were on the right track, and we were. So it all worked out!
The menu was Grilled Steak, Shanghai Tangerine Chicken, and Salmon, Ceaser salad, Sister Schuberts rolls, baked potatoes, steak fries, green beans, & corn. For dessert we had warm brownies, vanilla ice cream, toppings and pirolines. Indy's friend Jill brought chocolate dipped strawberries and pretzels too.
I only wished I had read this on Saturday, but it sounds like you had it all under control! ;)
